Professional Educators of Tennessee Foundation
helping Tennesse's youth and educators since 1999

A Very Breif History

In 1999 members of Professional Educators of Tennessee (PET) formed a PET Foundation for the purpose of receiving, administering and expending funds for purposes relating to education including: scholarships and internships for continued study in the field of education and many other areas relating to research and professional development.

PET itself is a professional association of more than 4000 like-minded educators across the state.  Members believe they can best serve the children and community by focusing on education in a positive collaborative way.

The original board of directors were Bernard Bull, a professor at Carson-Newman College; Larry Crain, an attorney in Brentwood Tennessee; and Walter Jewell, the executive director of PET.  2007 brought a change in the board of directors.  In an attempt to completely seperate the leadership of PETF from that of PET, Walter Jewell resigned from the board and five additional members were added.
