Excerpts from the By-Laws

PURPOSE

B-1 The Foundation is organized for receiving, administering and expending funds for all legal purposes relating to education and the profession of educator; including, but not limited to: the awarding of scholarships and internships; the publication of research, pamphlets, newsletters, and journals; the funding and promotion of workshops, seminars, forums, and conferences; educational research; the production of educational materials; the establishment and maintenance of an information network dealing with curricula, lesson plans, and other educational materials or information for education professionals; and assisting other charitable and educational organizations in similar activities.
B-2 Fundable activities shall include grants:
B-2-a To provide educational opportunities in the form of scholarships and internships to students at the graduate or undergraduate level preparing for a career in the field of Education or of support for professional educators.
B-2-b To Tennessee educators for further study.
B-2-c To publish journals, pamphlets, newsletters, and research papers dealing with current and traditional educational topics, methods, materials, trends in education, educators’ organizations and state and federal legislation and regulations dealing with education.
B-2-d To conduct symposiums, conferences, forums and workshops related to the curricula, methods, and current topics in education; the education profession; education law; and on the policy and structure of the Tennessee and federal educational systems.
B-2-e  To provide for educational research.
B-2-f To produce educational materials for distribution to schools or directly to educators.
B-2-g To promote or provide character education in the schools of Tennessee.
B-2-h To provide professional development opportunities to Tennessee educators.
B-2-i To other charitable or educational organizations, in Tennessee or other states, for similar activities.
B-3 The Corporation may also engage in other lawful charitable and educational activity as determined by its board of directors except as restricted herein.

RESTRICTIONS
F-1 No part of the net income of the Foundation shall inure to the benefit of or be distributable to its directors, officers, or other private persons, except that the corporation shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services actually rendered and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of the purposes and objects set forth in Article B hereof.
F-2 No substantial part of the activities of the Foundation shall be the carrying on of propaganda or otherwise attempting to influence legislation.
F-3 The Foundation shall not participate in or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.
